It's a match-three game, but you're also running this little hotel for animals. You clear tiles to get coins and stuff, then use all that to fix up rooms and add furniture. The pets show up after you decorate each space.

So you're basically switching between solving puzzles and doing some interior design. The pets just hang out in the rooms you've fixed up, which is honestly pretty cute. The puzzles get harder though—they add obstacles and new tile types to keep you on your toes.
