Gameplay

Choose actions from an icon-based interface to inspect scenes, speak with people, and move between locations. Progress comes from gathering information and following the connections between conversations. The game shifts its attention among members of the Knight Sabers as the investigation develops, presenting their scenes through illustrated backgrounds and character portraits. Reading is a major part of play, because dialogue supplies both the story and the context needed to decide what to do next. Some interactions need to be revisited as a conversation or situation changes. Later portions introduce action and maze-based encounters, adding different demands to the largely command-driven adventure. The overall goal is to advance the investigation and see the team’s story through, with observation and understanding taking priority during most scenes.

Good to know

The Japan label identifies the Japanese release, with Japanese story text and menus. This entry has no English fan translation mark. Understanding Japanese is especially helpful because so much of the game relies on written dialogue.
