Zipang is a puzzle-platformer for the TurboGrafx-16 built around creating and removing blocks. You control a small samurai inside single-screen rooms, trying to reach a key and then the exit. Its structure follows Solomon’s Key, with movement puzzles and enemies sharing the same compact space.

Gameplay
Place blocks to make steps, bridge useful gaps, or reach a higher part of the room. Removing a block changes the available route, so every alteration can help you advance or leave you with a new problem. Enemies continue moving while you work, turning a promising plan into a timing challenge. Destroying the block beneath an opponent provides one way to remove a threat, while limited fireball attacks offer another option when the situation calls for it. The key opens the way out, but collecting it is only useful if you can still reach the door afterward. That makes the order of actions important: a platform needed early may have to be removed later to complete the route. Each room asks you to read the layout, judge enemy movement, and put the block mechanic to practical use. Success comes from connecting small changes into a complete path rather than moving toward the exit without a plan.
