Cyber Core is a vertically scrolling shoot ’em up for the TurboGrafx-16. You pilot Chimera, an insect-like bio-fighter sent against giant insect enemies. Gameplay
Steer through the scrolling stages and use separate attacks for enemies in the air and on the ground. Ordinary forward fire handles airborne threats, while bombs reach targets below, so different opponents require different attacks even when they appear close together on screen. Power-up colors determine Chimera’s form and firing pattern, offering choices such as broad coverage or concentrated forward damage. Collecting more upgrades develops your equipment, making survival and item selection part of maintaining useful firepower. Moving toward an upgrade can be risky when enemy shots block the route, and chasing every item may leave you in a poor position. Bosses end the stages with larger targets and distinct attack patterns. The objective is to get through the full sequence while using your current form’s weapons to remove threats before they crowd the playfield.
