Darius Plus is a horizontally scrolling shoot ’em up for TurboGrafx-16 based on Taito’s Darius. You fly the Silver Hawk through enemy formations and confront huge robotic bosses modeled after sea creatures. Gameplay
Your ship fires forward and drops bombs, giving you ways to attack targets at different heights. Collecting power-ups improves your weapons and defenses, so maintaining those upgrades becomes an important part of survival. Enemy groups enter in patterns while the scenery scrolls past, forcing you to divide attention between incoming fire and targets ahead. Boss encounters interrupt that rhythm with larger opponents whose attacks must be learned individually. Once a boss is defeated, the route splits and presents a choice of the next zone. Trying another branch brings different encounters into a later run. The combination of route selection and weapon growth rewards staying alive over the whole journey. A stronger ship can clear threats more quickly, but collecting an upgrade still means crossing the same dangerous space as enemy shots.
