Dead Moon is a horizontal shoot ’em up for TurboGrafx-16 that sends a small spacecraft through waves of hostile machines. Scrolling stages combine enemy formations with larger boss fights. Colored weapon pickups are central to the action, letting you change the way your ship attacks as threats approach from different directions.

Gameplay
Move around the screen while firing into incoming enemies and looking for gaps in their shots. Different main weapons offer concentrated forward damage or wider coverage, changing which positions are useful during a wave. Collecting matching power-ups increases weapon strength, and that stored power also helps absorb damage: a hit can lower the weapon level instead of immediately ending the ship’s run. Other pickups add support equipment or replenish your offensive options. This makes collecting items a balance between improving the ship and preserving a safe escape route. Bosses put more emphasis on sustained damage and reading repeated attack patterns. Across the stages, keeping an upgraded weapon changes how quickly you can remove threats, while losing strength can make the next formation harder to handle. Survival and firepower are closely linked throughout the game.
