Final Match Tennis is a TurboGrafx-16 sports game centered on shot placement, timing, and court position. Its roster contains players with different strengths, so serving power, movement, and net play vary with your selection. Exhibition matches, a World Tour, and training provide different ways to play. Singles and doubles are included, with the original game supporting as many as four participants through additional controllers.

Gameplay

During a rally, moving into position is only the first part of making a successful return. When you hit the ball and which direction you choose affect where the shot travels, allowing you to pull an opponent across the court or look for an opening near the lines. Lobs, volleys, smashes, and angled groundstrokes make different positions useful. Advancing toward the net creates attacking chances but also leaves space behind you for a lob. Hard, grass, and clay courts change the character of the bounce, adding another factor to how a match develops. Training gives you a place to practice returns before taking on a full contest. The larger goal is to construct points through controlled placement and movement, then turn those points into games, sets, and match victories.
