Formation Soccer – Human Cup ’90 is a soccer game for TurboGrafx-16 with full teams competing on a vertically oriented field. Its angled overhead camera follows the ball as play moves between the goals. You choose from national teams, then enter an exhibition match or the Human Cup competition. The original release supports multiple participants, including cooperative play within the same team.

Gameplay
With possession, the immediate task is to carry the ball into a useful position and connect passes before attempting a shot. Defending involves closing down the ball carrier, challenging for possession, and covering the route toward your goal. Because the field extends beyond the screen, moving the ball also changes which players and passing options come into view. Formation choices affect how your side is arranged, giving the setup a practical role before kickoff. Exhibition offers a single match, while Human Cup sends your team through a succession of national opponents. Winning advances the competition, and a password system allows Cup progress to be resumed. The focus remains on controlling play directly: finding a teammate, making space, and converting an attack into a goal while preventing the opposing side from doing the same.
