J. League Greatest Eleven is a soccer game for the TurboGrafx-16’s Japanese PC Engine counterpart. It is based on Japan’s J.League and puts the focus on controlling a team during matches. The objective follows the sport: move the ball into attacking positions, score in the opposing net, and finish ahead when play ends.

Gameplay
Guide your active player around the field, use passes to move the ball between teammates, and shoot when you have a useful angle on goal. When possession changes, the immediate task switches to defending your own net and recovering the ball. A pass can move an attack away from pressure, while holding the ball too long gives defenders more time to close the space. Watch the positions of teammates and opponents as play moves across the field. The team-based setup makes both possession and recovery part of every match, with each goal affecting the result.
