Lode Runner – Lost Labyrinth is a puzzle platformer for TurboGrafx-16 built around collecting gold and escaping pursuing guards. Each screen arranges platforms, ladders, ropes, and diggable ground into a route-finding problem. You need to reach every piece of gold, then make your way to the exit.

Gameplay
The digging action opens temporary holes beside your character. These gaps can trap a guard, create a route through the floor, or let you reach a lower part of the layout. They also close again, so the timing of entering or crossing them matters. Ladders provide vertical routes, and overhead bars let you cross spaces where walking would be impossible. Guards pursue you through the same structure, making their position part of the puzzle rather than just a background threat. Collecting one piece of gold may require arranging a way back out before you descend. A route that works while the guards are elsewhere can become unsafe if you wait too long. The challenge comes from combining a workable collection order with movement that keeps the pursuers at a distance. Finishing a screen rewards understanding its layout and using a small set of actions in the right sequence.
