Ordyne is a horizontally scrolling shoot-em-up for the TurboGrafx-16 from Namco. You pilot a small aircraft through colorful enemy formations, collecting crystals to spend at airborne shops. Its combination of forward gunfire, downward attacks, and purchased upgrades adds a spending decision to the usual challenge of staying alive.

Gameplay
The screen scrolls as enemies and obstacles enter your flight path. Your main gun covers threats ahead, while bombs reach targets below, making vertical positioning important even as the stage moves sideways. Destroyed opponents can leave crystals, and collecting them builds the funds needed for shop purchases. Entering a shop interrupts the shooting long enough to choose an available upgrade. Different weapons change the way you cover the screen, while other purchases can improve survival or movement. Since powered weapons have limited duration, their timing matters as well as their cost. Boss encounters bring larger targets with attack patterns that require you to keep finding a safe place to fly. The cartoon presentation gives ships and enemies an expressive look, but contact and incoming fire still make narrow spaces dangerous. Progress depends on balancing crystal collection against avoiding risky positions, then using purchased equipment effectively during the next stretch of the stage.
