P-47 – The Freedom Fighter is a horizontally scrolling shoot ’em up for the TurboGrafx-16 platform. This Japanese PC Engine release puts you in a World War II fighter plane, flying through enemy aircraft and ground fire. It adapts an arcade game built around constant forward movement, weapon pickups, and large targets that demand sustained shooting.

Gameplay
Your plane can move around the screen while the landscape scrolls past. Incoming aircraft threaten the airspace, while weapons on the ground make low flight dangerous. The main gun handles targets ahead, and additional weapons extend your attack options. Collecting power-ups changes how you approach enemies positioned above or below your usual firing line. Speed upgrades also affect how quickly you can get away from an approaching shot. Moving toward a pickup can expose you to fire, so collecting equipment is part of the challenge. Larger encounters test your ability to keep firing while leaving yourself room to dodge. The central task is to finish each stage with enough lives and useful equipment to continue the flight.
