Parodius da! – Shinwa Kara Owarai he is a horizontally scrolling shoot ’em up for the TurboGrafx-16 platform. Konami’s parody of Gradius pairs recognizable shooting mechanics with absurd enemies, comic characters, and playful music. The Japanese PC Engine version brings that combination to a home console with several selectable characters.

Gameplay
You move freely around the screen while the stage scrolls forward, firing at enemies and avoiding their shots. Each playable character has a different weapon setup, so your selection affects the shape and reach of your attacks. Collecting capsules advances the selection along a power-up meter. Activating the highlighted choice lets you improve speed, add weapons, or strengthen your defenses. The system makes each pickup part of a longer decision: take the upgrade currently available or keep collecting toward another one. Enemies and scenery often look comic, but their projectiles still demand close attention. Large encounters combine unusual visual designs with patterns you need to recognize and evade. Keeping a powered-up character alive helps preserve the tools that make crowded sections manageable, giving survival and equipment choices equal weight throughout a run.
