Rabio Lepus Special is a horizontal shoot ’em up for the TurboGrafx-16 and PC Engine. This home adaptation of Rabio Lepus puts a flying robotic rabbit at the center of the action. Its unusual hero combines conventional shooting with a close-range punch, giving enemy distance a role beyond simply avoiding collisions.

Gameplay
You steer through scrolling routes while firing at enemies and moving around their projectiles. When an opponent gets close enough, the rabbit can strike directly, adding a short-range attack to the usual exchange of shots. That changes the value of space around the character: an approaching enemy can be a target for a punch, but moving close also leaves less time to react. Supporting missiles provide another way to damage enemies while you concentrate on positioning. Enemy waves and boss encounters require you to watch several parts of the screen at once, including the space immediately around the rabbit. The colorful presentation gives the game a playful appearance, while its enemy placement and attack patterns demand careful movement. Learning when to maintain distance and when a nearby target is safe to strike forms a distinctive part of its shooting rhythm.
