Sekigahara is a historical strategy game for the TurboGrafx-16 and PC Engine, published by Tonkin House. It takes its subject from the Japanese battle of 1600 and represents the battlefield on a hexagonal grid. The focus is on directing forces across a map and judging positions before committing to an engagement.

Gameplay

You work through a map-based interface, selecting forces and making battlefield decisions through the available commands. Hexes divide the field into distinct positions, making the relationship between neighboring units central to reading the situation. An advance changes both the area your forces occupy and the places where the opposing army can meet them. Assessing the whole map helps you understand how separate engagements connect. The historical setting gives the conflict its context, while the grid provides a structured way to follow movement and confrontation. Progress depends on using your army effectively enough to overcome the enemy’s battlefield position. Reading the command interface is an important part of understanding the choices available at each step.
