Street Fighter II’ – Champion Edition is a one-on-one fighting game for the TurboGrafx-16 and PC Engine. You choose from twelve fighters, including the four bosses from the original Street Fighter II, and compete in side-view matches. Each character has a different combination of reach, movement, normal attacks, and special techniques. Winning depends on controlling distance and finding openings in the opponent’s defense.

Gameplay
Fights use rounds, health bars, and a time limit. Walking, jumping, crouching, and blocking set up the exchanges between punches, kicks, throws, and special moves. Projectile attacks can force an opponent to react from a distance, while close-range pressure creates different risks and opportunities. A missed heavy attack may leave an opening, and repeated jumps can become predictable. Learning one fighter makes it easier to recognize which moves cover the ground, catch an airborne opponent, or punish a mistake. Champion Edition also allows both sides to choose the same character, making mirror matches part of the competition. The PC Engine version supports a six-button controller layout, which gives the attack strengths direct inputs. The result is a fighter centered on precise choices within a compact arena.
