Tatsujin is a vertically scrolling shoot ’em up for TurboGrafx-16 and the Japanese title of Truxton. You pilot a spacecraft through enemy formations, ground defenses, and large opponents while collecting upgrades. Its defining equipment includes colored weapon pickups and a skull-shaped bomb explosion that can clear danger around your ship.

Gameplay
The screen advances upward automatically, leaving you to concentrate on movement, firing, and the spaces between incoming shots. Weapon colors correspond to different attack styles, including a broad spread, a concentrated forward shot, and a lightning weapon. Changing weapons affects how you cover the screen and how directly you need to line up with a target. Power upgrades increase your offensive strength, while speed pickups change how quickly the ship responds when repositioning. Bombs provide a limited emergency attack, making their remaining stock another part of survival. Large enemies require sustained fire while you work around their patterns, and smaller attackers can make those encounters harder by occupying your escape routes. Losing a ship disrupts the strength you have built, so preserving upgrades matters throughout a run. The central challenge is to keep dealing damage without allowing bullets or enemy bodies to close off your next movement.
