Tenseiryuu – Saint Dragon is a horizontally scrolling shoot ’em up for TurboGrafx-16. You control a mechanical dragon whose long armored body trails behind its head. That body is central to the action: it can shield the vulnerable head from attacks, giving movement a defensive purpose beyond simply steering away from danger.

Gameplay
The screen carries you forward through enemy-filled areas while you fire ahead and collect items that improve your offensive strength. The dragon’s head follows your directional input, but the rest of its body bends along the route you have just traveled. A small turn can therefore change where the armored sections sit relative to incoming fire. Curling the body around the head creates protection from some directions, while stretching out makes it easier to cover open space. Enemy placement and the surrounding terrain affect which shape is useful at any moment. You need to keep a clear firing angle as well as a safe position, especially when larger opponents demand sustained attacks. Weapon pickups add strength, but the distinctive challenge remains controlling the dragon as a flexible shape. The head’s location determines your immediate safety, and the path behind it determines what protection you have available.
