Tricky is a top-down puzzle game for TurboGrafx-16’s Japanese PC Engine, released in the US as Tricky Kick. You move a character around compact boards and kick matching creatures together to clear them. Each puzzle asks you to think about direction, stopping points, and the order in which pairs should be removed.

Gameplay
A kicked creature slides in a straight line until something stops it, so the arrangement of walls and other objects determines where it can end up. Bringing matching types together makes the pair disappear and opens additional space on the board. That extra space can help, but it can also remove a stopping point needed for another move. You therefore need to consider more than the nearest available match. Your own character must also be able to reach the correct side of a piece before kicking it, making walking routes part of the solution. The game presents its puzzles through six themed scenarios, each with a different protagonist and visual setting. A time limit adds pressure while you work through the layouts. Completing a board requires both a workable sequence of kicks and enough access to carry that sequence out before the clock expires.
